INFORMATION DESIGN
BRIEF

Make the state budget more understandable for people by redesigning the budget management dashboard on the Ministry of Finance website.

DESIGN PROCESS

The design process focused on improving the user-friendliness of the visualisation of the state budget by involving different target groups, mapping their needs and testing both the old and the new solution. The new information design solution allows to move from the general to the individual, while keeping the links. By the end of the project, a user-tested prototype of the digital solution was completed, highlighting the links between the country's result areas, activities, agencies, resources and metrics. On the basis of the prototype, the Ministry of Finance has created a new visualisation of the state budget, which will be available on the Ministry of Finance website.










THE SOLUTION


CONNECTIONS

– We highlighted the links between cash flows, performance areas and indicators.

– Linked topical issues to the blog.

– Linked programme activities, services and metrics.CUSTOMIZATION

– We made information-intensive tables filterable.

– Added a layer of information to the data in the form of services and metrics.

– Clarifed terms and topics. Wherever possible, we changed the useful terms for an analyst into “human language” because it was confusing users.CONSTRICTIONS

– Considered Tableau's capabilities: point out the possibility to download in Tableau from.

– Took into account that people have different ways of thinking, 
so there are several ways to find information.
